For many companies, training and development is one of the lowest things on the priority list. Not at Western Window Systems, and especially not for Donald Hernandez. As a lead of the multi-slide frames team, Hernandez knows that training allows his team to perform better, acquire new skills, and increase productivity.
“Donald’s our best trainer,” says frames and glass manager Joey Morales. “He’s patient, goes step by step, shows the right and wrong way to do things, and explains the ‘why’ behind the process.”
Morales goes on to say that if Hernandez sees that something is wrong, he immediately meets with his team to review the problem and explains how to fix it.
With the company since February 2012, Hernandez goes the extra mile to finish a product correctly and on time, even staying extra hours to complete his schedule. And if other departments are in need of assistance, he’ll send members of his team to help, or simply take care of it himself.
“Donald puts his team first,” says Morales. “He’s always respectful to others and walks in with a smile on his face every day. He does whatever it takes to get products out the door and to our customers.”
Congratulations to Donald Hernandez, Western Window Systems’ shop employee of the month for August.
