For Luis Varela, the saying “eighty percent of success is showing up” couldn’t be more appropriate. More than simply arriving, Varela comes to Western Window Systems prepared to put in the work and support those around him, regardless of obstacles.
“He shows up every day, on time, and ready to work,” says Dean Seger, vice president of manufacturing for Western Window Systems. “He has a fantastic outlook and wants the work of his team to be the best it can be.”
Varela, who started with the company in 2012, knows how to assemble every aspect of Western Window Systems’ Series 670 hinged window line. Because of his skill set and keen attention to detail, he’s taken on the department’s more demanding role of dropping the sashes into the frames.
On the company’s core value of innovation, Seger notes that Varela keeps an open mind to improvement ideas. When new procedures are instituted, he accepts them as if they were always in place.
“Luis keeps cool and calm, even in times of chaos,” says Seger. “That kind of attitude sets an example for the rest of the team and helps to reduce stress.”
Congratulations to Luis Varela, Western Window Systems’ shop employee of the month for August.
