Western Window Systems Introduces the Series 7650 — Its Strongest, Most Energy-Efficient Sliding Glass Door
Aug 30, 2017

[Phoenix] – August 31, 2017 – Today, Western Window Systems introduced the Series 7650, its strongest and most energy-efficient aluminum sliding glass door ever, with industry-leading taller and wider sizes. The new Series 7650 Sliding Glass Door features low-E glass options from Cardinal IG Co., advanced strength, and a clean, contemporary style designed to blur the divide between the indoors and the outside. Following the release of the Series 7600 Multi-Slide Door in March, it’s the second of 12 new aluminum product lines Western Window Systems will roll out in 2017.

“The Series 7650 Sliding Glass Door is an exciting new idea — we started with our classic aluminum design and reinvented it for architects and builders who want a true contemporary sliding glass door that addresses energy and performance needs critical to an area. The result is our sleekest, strongest, and most energy-efficient sliding glass door to date,” says Scott Gates, Western Window Systems’ president and CEO. “The Series 7650 Sliding Glass Door has been tested by the AAMA in various configurations, and for markets requiring specific performance ratings. Architects and builders who want energy efficiency without sacrificing design are going to love the Series 7650.”

Energy Efficiency
The new Series 7650 Sliding Glass Door features a .30 U-value for standard, low-E, argon-filled dual-pane glass, and a .19 U-value for high-performance triple-pane glass, giving it the ability to deliver energy efficiency in a variety of weather conditions. Performance glass options such as laminated glass, solar- and glare-control glass, enhanced winter-performance glass, and Neat low-maintenance glass come courtesy of Cardinal IG Co., the world’s leading glass manufacturer. To further reduce energy consumption, the Series 7650 features a signature aluminum extrusion design utilizing proprietary Insulbar technology. The Series 7650 Sliding Glass Door has been tested by the NFRC and is compliant with California’s rigorous Title 24 requirements.

For strength against the elements, the Series 7650 Sliding Glass Door features a design pressure (DP) rating of 50, with several configurations tested by the AAMA. A thin extrusion profile with a deeper section depth supports triple-pane, laminated, and security glass — essential options for noise reduction as well as impact resistance. The Series 7650 is currently in testing for hurricane impact.

The distinct contemporary style of the Series 7650 incorporates sleek design with innovations pioneered in the Series 7600 Multi-Slide Door. An entirely new modern sill option creates a cleaner and smoother transition from the indoors to the outside. Engineering efficiencies eliminate the need for a bulky interlock, allowing panels to neatly stack in alignment. Those with an affinity for detail will appreciate design elements such as jamb covers (which hide exposed fasteners), consistent sightlines, and a concealed locking system, all of which enhance the Series 7650 Sliding Glass Door’s minimalist aesthetic.

The New Series 7650 Multi-Slide Door Also Offers:

  • A 2.9” interlock stile
  • Sealed stainless steel ball bearing rollers for easy operation
  • Completely customizable options such as sizes, configurations, floor tracks, and handles
  • Split finish option, where different finishes are used on opposite sides of the door
  • “Quad-Zilla Roller” for extreme panel sizes and heavy glass
  • Pre-applied Cardinal Preserve Film to protect glass during installation
  • Heavy-duty screen manufactured with a thicker extrusion
  • Stainless steel hardware
  • Low Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings for quieter living spaces
