A modern home in Scottsdale outfitted with door systems and windows from Western Window Systems is the cover story in the December Arizona edition of Luxe, the interiors magazine covering local design and architecture as well as national news and trends in the industry.
The project of a real estate developer and his wife, the residence, located in the Scottsdale golf resort community of Estancia, brings together the talents of architecture firm Drewett Works; interior designer David Michael Miller; Manship Builders; and landscape design firm Greey | Pickett.
“There wasn’t enough room to bring in a large crane for the 35-foot-long steel roof beams,” says builder Mark Laidlaw of Manship Builders in the article. “So we had to use a small forklift, which was kind of tricky.”
The contemporary 5,500-square-foot-home includes a cantilevered roof and multiple levels of stone, allowing it to feel like a continuation of the surrounding landscape. Western Window Systems’ Series 600 Multi-Slide Door turns the patio and living room into one huge indoor-outdoor space. Additional features include large expanses of Italian travertine, a 15-by-40-foot infinity lap pool, and Western Window Systems’ Series 600 Window Walls, large expanses of glass that let in light and frame the home’s desert views.
