Our Favorite Projects of 2020 (So Far)

Big glass is a big deal in commercial projects this year, as more restaurants, retail, and multi-family residences meet the demand for indoor-outdoor spaces. From a ski lodge restaurant revamp to a trio of luxury apartments in West Hollywood, here are our favorite well-glazed projects of 2020 (so far).

Luana Garden Villas in Honua Kai Resort & Spa

Completed in spring 2020, the 72 three-bedroom units at Luana Garden Villas in Honua Kai Resort & Spa in Lahaina, Hawaii, boast beautiful views of Ka’anapali Beach, courtesy of structurally robust multi-slide doors and windows from our Classic and Performance lines.

The Ainsley

Envisioned as luxury condominiums with resort-style amenities, The Ainsley in West Hollywood, California, will feature 49 single- and dual-level units boasting Series 600 Horizontal Sliding Windows, Series 600 Window Walls, Series 600 Sliding Glass Doors, and Series 600 Multi-Slide Doors with views of the surrounding urban center when complete in fall 2020.

Metro Crossing

Toll Brothers, the largest American builder of luxury homes, utilized our Series 600 Multi-Slide Doors in its newest community near Silicon Valley to create a seamless flow from the living spaces to the spacious decks. The community’s 608 condominiums and flats will be completed in fall 2020.

Canyon Lodge at Mammoth Mountain’s Lincoln Bar

As part of its recently completed renovations, full-service ski lodge Canyon Lodge at Mammoth Mountain in California installed Series 7600 Multi-Slide Doors throughout its Lincoln Bar, combining 2,000 square feet of new indoor space with an outdoor kitchen, bar, and fireplace lounge.

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort

When complete late this year, The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort in Hawaii will offer 779 renovated rooms and 31 suites overlooking the white sands and sparkling blue waters of Ka’anapali Beach. Each room’s private lanai is accessed via Series 600 Sliding Glass Doors with thermally broken aluminum frames and panels to reduce cold and heat transfer.

Jefferson Professional Building

To bring the Jefferson Professional Building in Carlsbad, California, up to the state’s current energy codes, Starck Architecture and Scott Construction installed a mix of Series 600 windows and Series 7900 Hinged Doors in the 12,672 square-foot building, originally constructed in 1972. The Series 7900 doors’ low U-values meet California’s rigorous Title 21 requirements while providing additional security through multi-point lock systems.

Kings 838

Inspired by Europe, the Kings 838 luxury apartments in West Hollywood, California, will comprise 25 units with one- and two-bedroom options when completed in late 2020. The 37,000 square-foot multi-unit property’s curb appeal will be boosted by big glass facades featuring Series 600 Window Walls, Series 600 Multi-Slide Doors, Series 600 Sliding Glass Doors, and Series 9500 Bi-Fold Doors.

Sea View Villas

Completed in late spring 2020, the Sea View Villas luxury apartments in Pacific Palisades, California, provide upscale living and beach access for the residents of the 29 units spread over five stories. The three-bedroom apartments all have large terraces at the living room and master bedroom boasting ocean views through Series 600 Multi-Slide Doors that seamlessly blur the transition from the interior to the outside.

The Beacons

All four of the luxury residences in the new mixed-used development The Beacons in Encinitas, California, sold out before the project’s completion in August 2020. The project also includes 3,100 square feet of leasable retail or restaurant space in four street-level units. The residences overlook Solana Beach through Series 600 Sliding Glass Doors and sets of fixed, hung, and sliding windows, while the commercial spaces draw attention with massive Series 600 Multi-Slide Doors that create indoor-outdoor connections when open and provide additional security when closed.

The Addison

A big selling point for the penthouse residences at The Addison luxury apartments just north of Melrose Place in West Hollywood, California, (slated for completion this summer) is the units’ expansive decks, accessed via floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. Extensive glazing including Series 600 Casement Windows and Series 600 Window Walls pour natural light into the 28 townhomes while meeting California’s rigorous energy codes.
